Last Chance to Pledge Your Support for Opioid Education

The misuse of opioids, including prescription drugs, continues to devastate lives and communities across the country. In support of AACN’s commitment to countering the U.S. opioid epidemic, we are asking all member schools to complete two actions by June 15

  1. Pledge now to address the opioid crisis on behalf of your school of nursing.
  2. Complete the opioid education survey.

The information and survey will help highlight the national trends in opioid education across member schools. Data collected will allow us to assess the impact of AACN’s partnership with the White House, which began in 2015 and resulted in over 200 nursing schools pledging to teach the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain to APRN students.

Act Now: Urge your Senators and Representative to Support Title VIII Reauthorization

With the introduction of Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act (H.R. 728/S. 1399) in both the House and Senate and with 100 cosponsors for H.R. 728 in the House, we are seeing the amazing impact AACN members have had on gaining additional support for this essential legislation. Let’s keep this momentum going!

As we near the July 4th recess, ask your Senators and Representative to cosponsor and pass Title VIII Reauthorization. Remind them how important Title VIII Nursing Workforce programs are to you, your university/school, your students, the nursing profession, our patients, and our communities. Your voice is crucial to advancing this critical legislation. CLICK HERE to ask your Senators and Representative to support and cosponsor Title VIII Reauthorization today!

AACN Attends NAM’s Future of Nursing Town Hall

On June 7, AACN staff attended the National Academy of Medicine’s (NAM’s) Future of Nursing 2030 Chicago Town Hall. As the NAM Committee continues to develop the Future of Nursing 2030 report, the regional town hall meetings help provide insights on ways to advance the nursing profession in the 21st century.
