Cynthia Clark, PhD, RN, ANEF, FAAN

Professor Emeritus at Boise State University

Dr. Cynthia Clark is Founder of Civility Matters, Professor Emeritus at Boise State University, and an award-winning professor, scholar, and author. She serves as a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, the NLN Academy of Nursing Education, and co-chaired the American Nurses Association Professional Panel on Incivility, Bullying, and Workplace Violence. Dr. Clark is best known for her ground-breaking work on fostering civility and healthy work and learning environments around the globe. Her theory-driven interventions, empirical measurements, theoretical models, and reflective assessments provide best practices to prevent, measure, and address incivility to create healthy, productive workplaces.

Dr. Clark is the recipient of numerous teaching, service, and research awards and widely acclaimed for her engaging presentations. Her empirical assessments have been translated into 16 world languages and used by scholars in 32 countries on 5 continents. The 1st edition of Creating and Sustaining Civility in Nursing Education received 1st place honors as the 2013 AJN Book of the Year. The 2nd edition is available and the 3rd edition is underway. Her recent book, Core Competencies of Civility for Nursing & Healthcare, is a must-read for all nurses and health care professionals. Virginia Reising, DNP, RN, PHNA-BC

Dr. Virginia Reising is an Associate Professor and Associate Chairperson at Rush University in the Department of Community, Systems, and Mental Health Nursing where she teaches at the Masters and Doctoral level. She previously worked in the College of Nursing at University of Illinois Chicago where she served as Interim Associate Dean for Practice and Partnerships, Associate Department Head, and the primary investigator on a HRSA Behavioral Health Integration Collaborative Agreement which supported the implementation of an integrated model of behavioral health care at a nurse-led health federally qualified health center and community correctional setting.

Dr. Reising completed her Master of Nursing degree at Rush University with a concentration in advanced population health nursing and her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at the University of Illinois Chicago. Her clinical experience spans hospital, primary care, and school settings. In 2018, she was named an Illinois Nurses Foundation 40 under 40 Emerging Nurse Leader and in 2022, she was named a Pinnacle Nurse Leader.

Kristin Ashford, PhD, WHNP-BC, FAAN

Dr. Kristin Ashford is a professor at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing where she serves as the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and Health Policy. As a fellow of the Center for Interdisciplinary Heath Education, she has led curricular transformation including integration of cognates and microcredentials. Presently, she drives innovative, impactful state-academic and community partnerships to transform healthcare for perinatal and parenting women as the Good Samaritan Endowed Chair of Community Nursing. She ha s led the creation of two perinatal substance use treatment (SUD) programs that bridge gaps and advance healthcare in SUD treatment for perinatal women.

As founder and Director of the Perinatal Research and Wellness Center, Ashford leads an interprofessional team to translate research into practice while informing policy makers on maternal and child health issues. She recently completed the Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellowship in Washington DC, serving as a health policy fellow on the U.S. Committee for Energy and Commerce, Health subcommittee. Dr. Ashford received her BS at Washburn University in Kansas and completed her training as a board-certification Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner at the University of Louisville. She further completed her PhD and NIH postdoctoral fellowship and the Wharton Executive Nursing Leadership program.

Margaret P. Moss, PhD, JD, RN, FAAN

Dr. Margaret Moss is an enrolled member of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation in North Dakota. She is the first and only American Indian to hold both Nursing and Juris Doctorates. She has been a nurse for 35 years and an academic for 24 years across 4 universities including the University of Minnesota (twice) where she has returned as Professor in Nursing and Associate Dean of Nursing and Health Policy, Yale University, SUNY Buffalo and the University of British Columbia (UBC). Just prior she was at UBC 2018-2023, as a Professor, School of Nursing, Interim Associate Vice President Equity & Inclusion for the University, and Director of the UBC First Nations House of Learning, a strategic Indigenous leadership position under the Provost. She co-led the development and launch of the UBC Indigenous Strategic Plan (2020) one of the only comprehensive plans in No. America. Dr. Moss was named to the inaugural Forbes 50 over 50 Impact List, 2021. She was elected to the American Academy of Nursing’s Board 2021 and has been elected a member of the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) (2022). She sits on a Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine. She has contributed to 2 NAM consensus studies- Federal Policy to Advance Racial, Ethnic, and Tribal Health Equity (2022), and currently The Use of Race and Ethnicity in Biomedical Research. Dr. Moss wrote an award-winning text, American Indian Health and Nursing (2015) followed by Health Equity and Nursing (2020). In other experiences, Dr. Moss was a RWJF Health Policy Fellow and staffed the Senate Special Committee on Aging. She was a Fulbright Research Chair at McGill University on Indigenous Life Across the North American Context. She is asked to speak often on Indigenous, health, aging, diversity and policy issues with academics, health professionals and other groups nationally and internationally.

Joanne O. Dunderdale, DNP, RN

Joanne O. Dunderdale is an Assistant Professor teaching in simulation education at the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, Loyola University Chicago for the past 10 years. She teaches every aspect of simulation in undergraduate nursing education including: medical-surgical I & II, mental health, community, maternal/child, women's & older adult health, pediatrics, leadership and intra- and inter-professional simulation. Dr. Dunderdale has extensive experience creating simulation scenarios, facilitating simulation activities, and leading debriefing sessions. Her research interests are in simulation, transition to practice and Ignatian Pedagogy application in nursing simulation education. Dr. Dunderdale has over 30 years experience as a registered nurse and currently maintains a clinical practice in the emergency nursing setting.

Carol T. Kostovich, PhD, RN, CHSE

Dr. Carol Kostovich is an Associate Professor and Assistant Dean of Innovative Educational Strategies and Simulation in the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, Loyola University Chicago. In addition to teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, she oversees nursing simulation within the pre-licensure and graduate programs. Dr. Kostovich has over 25 years of teaching experience in higher education. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing and a post-graduate certificate in Educational Research Methodology. Dr. Kostovich's research focuses on the phenomenon of nursing presence, creating psychologically safe spaces for students and patients and designing, implementing and evaluating innovative approaches to teaching. She is a certified healthcare simulation educator.

Staci Sue Reynolds, PhD, RN, ACNS-BC, CCRN, CNRN, SCRN

Dr. Staci Sue Reynolds is an Associate Clinical Professor at Duke University School of Nursing in the USA. Dr. Staci Reynolds joined Duke in January 2016, with a joint position between Duke University School of Nursing and Duke University Hospital (DUH). At DUSON, Dr. Reynolds teaches in the ABSN Program (evidence-based practice) and DNP program (healthcare quality improvement methods). Clinically, she served as a neuroscience Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) for the inpatient neuro units at DUH for 3 years. In March 2019, she transitioned to being a CNS for the DUH Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology department. Additionally, Dr. Reynolds coordinates the Duke Advancement of Nursing, Center of Excellence (DANCE) academic-practice partnership. She is also the faculty lead for the post-DNP Quality Implementation Scholars Program that began in May 2019. Before coming to DUSON, she was a neurocritical care nurse and a neuroscience Clinical Nurse Specialist at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital. Dr. Reynolds received a baccalaureate degree in nursing science from Indiana University (IU) in Indianapolis, Indiana. She earned a Master’s degree as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at IU in 2011 and completed her PhD at IU in May 2016. Dr. Reynolds’ dissertation focused on the implementation of clinical practice guidelines, and her current research interests include evidence-based practice implementation and quality improvement.

Veronica Rankin, DNP, RN-BC, NP-C, CNL, NE-BC

Dr. Veronica Rankin serves as a Director of Nursing Services in the role of Magnet Program Director for Atrium Health - Carolinas Med ical Center Central Division, located in Charlotte, North Carolina. She also serves as the Administrator of the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) Program at this magnet-designated Level 1 Trauma Center. Dr. Rankin has been a nurse for more than 17 years and a certified CNL for more than 9 years. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree as well as her Postmasters certification as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner from East Carolina University. She earned her master’s as a CNL from Queens University of Charlotte in 2011. She serves as adjunct faculty for Queen’s University’s graduate nursing program and teaches CNL exam certification review sessions with CNL students regularly. As a published author and member of various professional organizations including Sigma International where she serves as treasurer of the Mu Psi Chapter, Dr. Rankin’s primary career goal is to promote and advance the profession of nursing.

Angie Hatley, DNP, MS, RN, NEA-BC, CNL

Dr. Angie Hatley is an Associate Professor at the Presbyterian School of Nursing, Blair College of Health, teaching in the graduate and undergraduate programs. She has over eight years in higher education and has taught across programs, including general education. Dr. Hatley has served as the Chair of Graduate Studies in Nursing and is currently the MSN Track Coordinator for the MSN program. Dr. Hatley is a 2014 Doctor of Nursing Practice graduate from Regis University. Her doctoral studies focused on transitions in nursing practice and completed her scholarly project on Nurse Preceptor Development and the Impact on the Self-Efficacy of Newly Hired Nurses. She has practiced as a clinical nurse, educator, and/or administrator since 2001, following graduation from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree and a Graduate Certificate in Health Care Education from Regis University in 2008. Following licensure as a Registered Nurse, Dr. Hatley served in various clinical and nursing leadership roles for more than 15 years with Atrium Health in Charlotte.

Christy Haas-Howard, MPH, BSN, BA, RN, AE-C, NCSN

National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF)

Christy Haas-Howard oversees the development, execution, and evaluation of health initiatives related to the environment. She collaborates with the conservation and K-12 education teams to identify priority areas of common interest to maximize resources and impact. As an experienced health care provider, she tracks emerging trends in the health and environment space, recognizing and amplifying the opportunities to create greater health equity and environmental justice. Christy comes to NEEF with over 17 years as a registered nurse in the school setting. She has been asthma educator-certified since 2009 and has led various school-based asthma programs at the local and state level. She has also worked at the national level to cultivate an increase in school nurse’s knowledge and skills related to asthma care. Christy has presented and published on asthma and the upstream benefits of addressing environmental exposures and climate change. Her other previous projects include supporting a pilot air quality sensor network and health literacy project in Denver, CO, and implementing an air quality and asthma literacy Environmental Health Nurse Fellowship. Christy holds a BA in Economics from Claremont McKenna College, a BS in Nursing from Metropolitan State University, Denver, and a MPH from the Colorado School of Public Health. She enjoys gardening, playing games with her family, walking her dogs, and hiking in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

Andra Davis, PhD, MN, RN

Dr. Andra Davis (she/her) is an Associate Professor with palliative care expertise (educational and instrument development). She is a co-investigator with the End-of-life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) and leads a national effort to advance palliative care education in schools of nursing. With her colleague Dr. Lippe, she has developed instruments to evaluate student learning related to palliative care education. In addition to this work, she has participated in revision of national palliative care competency statements intended for use in schools of nursing. Dr. Davis has worked with an international team of researchers to explore provider experiences in caring for persons at the end of life in Thailand. Other work includes nurse-led symptom support for persons receiving cancer treatment and development of national family caregiver competencies within a national consortium of nurse educators.

Megan Lippe, PhD, MSN, RN, ANEF, FAAN

Dr. Megan Lippe is an Associate Professor with tenure and a palliative care expert. She is a national leader for palliative nursing care education with published works in areas related to palliative care education, simulation, interprofessional education, and social justice. She is a co-investigator of the End of Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) focused on advancing palliative care education in schools of nursing throughout the country. Dr. Lippe is the lead author for AACN-endorsed national palliative care competence statement revisions for undergraduate and graduate education (CARES and G-CARES, respectively) and the ELNEC Undergraduate/New Graduate curr iculum.

Dr. Andrea Novak is currently the Field Experience Coordinator and Adjunct Faculty for Aspen University. Her history in adult education spans over 30 years with most recently serving as an AHEC Nurse for about 23 years. Dr. Novak is a member of the NCNA Council on Gerontology and serves as a peer reviewer for NCNA’s CEAU Task Force as well as a Peer Reviewer for the Emergency Nurses Association Education Committee.

Her nursing background began as many of us did as a med-surg nurse which expanded to working in the emergency nursing arena and later as a nurse educator for a high-volume emergency department. Andrea is one of the North Carolina’s 100 Great Nurses, as well as a Fellow in the Academy of Emergency Nursing. She has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Emergency Nursing, the National AHEC Organization and currently on the Aspen Journal. A published author and national speaker, Dr. Novak also received training as a health literacy consultant through UNC Chapel Hill and developed a strong interest in both helping healthcare providers meet the literacy needs of their patients, especially those most vulnerable; the elderly. Dr. Novak holds a PhD in Public Health; community health and education from Walden University, two Masters Degrees, two bachelor degrees, and an ADN.

Susan Grant is Executive Vice President, Chief Experience Officer and Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) at Wellstar Health System, a nine-hospital health system headquartered in Marietta, Ga. Grant has operated in healthcare for over 30 years.

Her wealth of experience in various roles, such as executive vice president and chief nursing officer at Beaumont Health in Detroit, MI and Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, GA have led to achievements, including leading the nursing practice of over 10,000 nurses across all care settings and overseeing successful Magnet designation and redesignation of 8 different hospitals. She has spoken nationally and internationally and published on patient safety and patient and family-centered care. Grant is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and received her Bachelors degree in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia, Masters degree in Nursing from the University of South Carolina and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Vanderbilt University.

M. Lindell Joseph, PhD, RN, FAAN, FAONL

Lindell Joseph has a passion for advancing nursing leadership and innovativeness through thought leadership, research methods, and extensive publications.

She is currently a Distinguished Scholar in Nursing, a Clinical Professor, and the Director for DNP and MSN in Health Systems/Administration/Executive Leadership Programs at the University of Iowa College of Nursing. She co-leads the curriculum redesign for both the undergraduate and graduate programs and recently served as a Councilor and Sena tor on the Faculty Senate. Dr. Joseph serves as a member of the International Society for Professional Identity in Nursing. Advisory Group. In that role, she co-led the development of the Conceptual Model for Professional Identity in Nursing and now chairs the committee, Nurse as Leader. She serves on the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) Foundation Board of Directors and co-leads the Nursing Leadership and System Science Council a collaboration between AONL Foundation and the Association for Leadership Science in Nursing. From 2016-2018 she was elected to the AONL Board of Directors and served on the American Hospital Association(AHA) Regional Policy Board for Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri, and Minnesota. She is both a fellow in both the American Academy of Nursing and the American Organization for Nursing Leadership.

Dr. Joseph’s areas of expertise are leadership effectiveness, innovativeness across academia-practice, and the General Effectiveness Multilevel Theory for Shared Governance (GEMS), the only theory-based program for shared governance implementation in nursing practice. In 2021, she co-published the book, Leadership, and Nursing Care Management.

Nelda Godfrey, PhD, ACNS-BC, RN, FAAN, ANEF

Nelda Godfrey is Professor and Associate Dean for Innovative Partnerships and Practice at the University of Kansas School of Nursing, Kansas City, KS. A thought leader in nursing innovation and nursing education, Dr. Godfrey writes often on new care delivery models that can be influenced by a stronger emphasis on the nurse within—researching and developing strategies to create the whole person experience in nursing practice going forward.

Her work with the International Society for Professional Identity in Nursing is transforming the way nurses, health care professionals and society understanding what it means to “think, act and feel like a nurse.” This work offers new language and new knowledge for the journey—helping nurses heal, flourish and expertly care for others. Dr. Godfrey received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Uni versity of Missouri, her Masters in Nursing and credential as a Clinical Nurse Specialist from the University of Kansas Medical Center, and her PhD in Nursing from the University of Missouri. Scholarly accomplishments include seminal work in professional identity in nursing and implementing the AACN Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education. Programmatic achievements include creating the KU Community College Nursing Program (KUCCNP) in which community college students dually enroll in their community college and KU simultaneously, allowing them to graduate with an associate degree in nursing and a bachelor of science in nursing at the same time.

Dr. Godfrey currently serves as the chair for the American Nurses Association Ethics and Human Rights Advisory Board and is formerly one of two co-leads for the Missouri Action Coalition supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Brent Cameron

Brent Cameron is a Professional Writing Specialist at the Purdue University Writing Lab. In 2022, he received his master’s degree in English Studies at East Carolina University (ECU), where he worked both as a Writing Center Consultant and an instructor of Record, teaching several sections of First-Year Writing and Writing in the Disciplines. Brent also worked as a teaching assistant in the Engineering Communications program at Virginia Tech, where he co-taught several undergraduate technical writing courses and tutored students on a one-to-one basis. Beyond having a passion for teaching writing (and writing in general), Brent’s scholarly interests include, Writing Across the Disciplines, Cultural Rhetorics, and 19th-century literature.

Matt Del Busto

Matt Del Busto is a Professional Writing Specialist at the Purdue University Writing Lab. He received his MFA in poetry in 2022 from the University of Michigan, where he taught composition and creative writing. In 2022-23, he was a Postgraduate Fellow in Creative Writing at Michigan and taught composition at Washtenaw Community College, where he also was a faculty tutor in the writing center. He’s interested in nearly all things related to writing and the teaching of writing, most especially creative writing pedagogy, sustainable writing practices, and the intersection of academic and creative writing.
