Dr. Kate Gawlik is an Associate Professor of Clinical Nursing, Director of Undergraduate Health and Wellness Academic Programming, and the Director of the Bachelor of Science in health and wellness program at The Ohio State University. She is a Family Nurse Practitioner and her areas of expertise are in wellness, cardiovascular prevention, parental burnout, and nursing education. She pioneered an online educational program, the Million Hearts Fellowship, for healthcare professionals that has resulted in the cardiovascular screening and education of over 110,000 people nationwide and has been embedded into nursing curricula across the U.S. This work has received four national awards, including most recently, the AACN’s Innovation in Professional Nursing Education Award. She is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the National Academies of Practice, and the American Academy of Nursing. 
 

Jennifer Cooper, DNP, RN, PHNA-BC, CNE

Dr. Jennifer Cooper is an Associate Professor and Department Chair for Nursing at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland.  Her experience in community/public health nursing practice and nursing education provides the foundation for her practice, teaching, scholarship and service.  She is a Past President of the Association of Public Health Nurses and liaison to the national Million Hearts® initiative.  Dr. Cooper leads Hood Million Hearts®, where she works with nursing students to promote cardiovascular disease prevention in the Frederick community.  She serves as a liaison for nursing to the Frederick County Board of Health as a Board Member of the Maryland Nurses Association.  Dr. Cooper earned her DNP from The George Washington University, MSN from Rush University and BSN from Cedarville University.

Kristine L’Ecuyer, PhD, RN, CNE, CNL

Dr. Kristine L’Ecuyer is a distinguished nurse educator with experience caring for adult and pediatric patients recovering from cardiovascular surgery and preparing future generations of nurses through innovative teaching and leadership. At Saint Louis University, Dr. L’Ecuyer has made a significant impact as a faculty member, teaching medical-surgical clinicals and nursing courses in adult health, critical care, pathophysiology, and Ph.D.-level knowledge development in nursing. Her leadership roles include Director of Continuing Nursing Education, coordinator for the Accelerated Master of Science in Nursing (AMSN) program, and Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Pre-Licensure Education. She currently serves as Interim Dean, where her leadership continues to advance the school's mission of excellence in nursing education and practice. Dr. L’Ecuyer is a recognized leader in preceptor training and development, teaching the Missouri Hospital Association (MHA) Preceptor Academy for the p ast 15 years. She is the developer of the Preceptor Self-Assessment Tool (PSAT-40), a licensed resource widely used to enhance preceptor competency and training. Her scholarly contributions include publications on preceptor training, interprofessional education, clinical nurse leader (CNL) certification and outcomes, nursing leadership, and preceptors’ experiences with nursing students who have learning disabilities.

Catherine Horvath, DNP, CRNA, CNE, CHSE, FAANA

Catherine Horvath is a nurse anesthesiology educator and currently works at Medical University of South Carolina in the Anesthesia for Nurses Program. Previously, Catherine served in the role of Program Director for the DNP Nurse Anesthesiology at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and the Assistant Program Director for the DNAP Program at Georgetown University. In those roles, she was responsible for leading institutional planning, curriculum design, and governance roles. She has served as the simulation/cadaver lab director and led innovative approaches to incorporate novel educational uses of simulation into the training curricula for over 18 years. Foundational to these efforts, Catherine has completed a fellowship in simulation pedagogy through the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning and has earned the status of Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator with the Society of Simulation in Healthcare. Catherine also has a passion for the health of providers in the anesthesia profession, having focused her DNP project on drug security, and previously was chair of the AANA Health and Wellness Committee. She received her BSN in 1992 from University of Virginia, MSN in 1994 from Northeastern University, and DNP in 2016 from Georgetown University. Her CRNA clinical practice spanned 32 years.

Nicole Mollenkopf, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, BCPPS

Nicole Mollenkopf is a nursing educator, pharmacist, and patient safety specialist with over 20 years of clinical experience working in interprofessional health care teams in both the community and acute care settings. She has been educating nursing, pharmacy, and other health professions students for 18 years with the last 8 years as full-time faculty at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing as an assistant professor and Director of Interprofessional Education. In this role, Nicole oversees the interprofessional education (IPE) program which educates thousands of learners each year. Under her leadership, the IPE program scope expanded to include a community-based, health equity focus. We have an IPE experience that leverages teams to mitigate provider and systemic bias in opioid-use disorder care, as well as an interprofessional critical service-learning program that brings interprofessional students together with community partners to foster community- service learning within a social justice framework. Similarly, the IPE program has moved from didactic learning methods to include simulation- and clinically-based interprofessional experiences. Her scholarship involves a variety of funded and unfunded projects assessing outcomes associated with interprofessional education, simulation training, as well as the use of human factors engineering to improve medication safety and team-based care.
 

Jessica Heacock, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Jessica Heacock is a psychiatric nurse practitioner, aspiring policy expert, and nurse educator nearing completion of her doctoral degree at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. She has twenty years of nursing experience, much of which has been dedicated to working with underserved populations. In her clinical role, Jessica specializes in working with people with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring substance-use disorders. She consistently demonstrates the value of patient-centered care, focusing on patient education and shared decision-making. She has previously worked with similar patient populations as a care manager, helping to address the many social determinants negatively impacting health outcomes. Jessica is passionate about mentorship and is committed to passing these values to future practitioners. Jessica was recently awarded the Isabel Hampton Robb Interprofessional Education Fellowship. In her fellowship capacity, she collaborated with the National Academy of Medicine to lead a pilot project implementing the 3Cs Framework for Pain and Unhealthy Substance Use for interprofessional education development focused on opioid use disorders.

Susan Bakewell-Sachs, PhD, RN, FAAN

Since 2013, Susan Bakewell-Sachs has served as Vice President for Nursing Affairs, professor and dean at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Nursing. She has a clinical background as a pediatric nurse practitioner, specializing in caring for infants and children born prematurely. She is also a recognized expert in nursing education, interprofessional education, and academic-practice partnerships, seeking ways to develop and evaluate innovative models of education and practice to prepare healthcare professionals and improve patient care.

Dr. Bakewell-Sachs is active in national organizations, recently completing service as an appointed member of the Veterans’ Administration National Academic Affiliations Council and Co-chair, Diversity in the Healthcare Workforce Subcommittee. She is past Chair of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2020-2022. She is a fellow of the American Aca demy of Nursing and the Western Academy of Nursing. Dr. Bakewell-Sachs was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Executive Nurse Fellow and served as Program Director for the New Jersey Nursing Initiative, an RWJF program aimed at addressing the nurse faculty shortage through new curriculum models, faculty development, and academic-practice partnerships.
 

Brooke Baldwin, DNP, MSN, RN, CENP

Brooke Baldwin, DNP, RN, CENP serves as the vice VP and chief nursing executive (CNE) for OHSU Healthcare and the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs at OHSU School of Nursing. University of California, Irvine Health system (UCI Health) and has been in the role since January 2021. As the CNE, Brooke contributes to the development of strategic goals and provides a vision for all aspects of patient and quality of care, ensuring professional nursing standards are uniform and maintained across the system. She is responsible for nursing and patient care initiatives across the health system and oversight in all inpatient and outpatient care settings.

Gerry Altmiller, EdD, APRN, ACNS-BC, ANEF, FAAN

Dr. Gerry Altmiller is a clinical nurse specialist for Jefferson Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and professor emeritus and director of the Quality and Safety Innovation Center at The College of New Jersey. She served on the QSEN Advisory board for over a decade and was a national consultant for integrating quality and safety into nursing curricula. Dr. Altmiller authored the Teamwork and Communication Module of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing’s Transition to Practice program and in 2014 she received a Lindback Award for distinguished teaching. For 7 years, she led the QSEN Academic Task Force, creating opportunities for its 120 faculty members to network, share ideas, and conduct academic-focused research. Her work on constructive feedback led to the development, testing, and dissemination of support tools for nurse educators and learning tools for students to view feedback as an opportun ity. Dr. Altmiller is a member of the AACN workgroups that developed the toolkits to support adoption of the 2021 AACN Essentials, serves as a national consultant for schools of nursing working to integrate competency-based education, and has served on the editorial board for the Nurse Educator since 2017.

Yolanda Ogbolu, PhD, FNAP, FAAN
Bill and Joanne Conway Dean and Professor

Yolanda Ogbolu is the Bill and Joanne Conway Dean and Professor at the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Nursing. Over the past 14 years at UMB, she has held various leadership roles, including Chair of Partnerships, Professional Education and Practice, Director of Global Health and Co-director of The Center for Health Equity and Outcomes Research and the Global Learning to Advance Health Equity Network. Ogbolu's research and scholarship at UMB have focused on advancing health equity and nurse capacity both locally and globally. Her projects focus on health equity, including improving culturally and linguistically appropriate care in hospitals, addressing social determinants of health, hypertension and social isolation in marginalized communities. She has secured over $17 million in funding from various agencies and foundations. Currently, she leads a national network to advance global learning for health equity under a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and a community grant to reduce cardiovascular health disparities in Baltimore.

Karen Doyle, DNP, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN
Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer

Karen Doyle is Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC). With more than 35 years of nursing experience, she has served in a variety of executive roles in care management, patient experience, trauma and emergency nursing, and women’s and surgical services. As CNO, Dr. Doyle helps oversee nursing practice, patient outcomes, and research at UMMC’s Downtown and Midtown campuses. She was previously Senior Vice President of Nursing and Operations at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, Maryland’s Primary Adult Resource Center, which serves more than 7,500 critically ill and severely injured patients annually. Dr. Doyle has been instrumental in the success of several key initiatives at UMMC, including the expansion of trauma, critical care, and emergency services; the relocation and building of a 250-bed acute care hospital; and the development of a surgery, obst etric, and gynecologic hospitalist program. She also led UMMC’s COVID-19 response and vaccine rollout. In 2024, UMMC earned its fourth consecutive Magnet designation under her leadership.

Peggy Norton-Rosko, DNP, RN, NEA-BC

Peggy Norton-Rosko serves as the University of Maryland Medical System’s leader for nursing practice, standards of care, nursing professional development and the partnership with schools of nursing. She also supports UMMS's strategic planning, nursing workforce development, continuous clinical improvement initiatives and the organization's High Reliability journey.Prior to her current role, Dr. Norton-Rosko served as the regional chief nursing officer for Trinity Health's Illinois and Indiana region. She has also served as the chief nursing officer for George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. Her clinical background includes many years as an advanced practice nurse working with cardiovascular surgery patients and also as a critical care nurse.  She has served in affiliate and adjunct faculty positions for several schools of nursing. Dr. Norton-Rosko earned a BS in nursing from Northern Illinois University, a MS in nursing from Loyola University of Chicago and a DNP from Chamberlain University. She was named to the Johnson and Johnson Nurse Innovation Fellowship for 2023-2024. Dr. Norton-Rosko is committed to supporting a professional nursing practice environment that supports excellent patient care by advocating for nurses to engage in professional governance to shape their practice and improve patient outcomes.

Loretta T. Lee, PhD, RN, CRNP, FNP-BC, CNE, FADLN, FNAP

Dr. Loretta T. Lee, Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Family, Community and Health Systems at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing, is a leading figure in health policy advocacy and the healthcare industry. Her fellowships with the American Academies of Practice, the Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing, and her National Black Nurses Association Inc. Health Policy Committee chairmanship demonstrate her dedication to interprofessional education and advocating for health policies that will transform healthcare. Dr. Lee’s academic journey, from earning her PhD in 2012 to her BSN in 1986, has been a testament to her commitment to nursing and healthcare. As a nurse scientist, her scholarship and research center on advancing transformative health equity for historically marginalized populations. Dr. Lee is a board-certified family nurse practitioner, a National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation program evaluator, and an associate editor for the international peer-reviewed journal Ethnicity and Health.

Joy Deupree, PhD, MSN, RN, WHNP-BC, FAAN

Dr. Joy Deupree is a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner, educator, researcher and policy advocate. Her work has focused on reducing health disparities in rural and underserved areas of the South. In 2006, Dr. Deupree co-founded the Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama (NPAA). Her advocacy for all nurses to practice to the full extent of their training and education led her to dedicate more than 10 years to NPAA leadership positions strategizing with stakeholders in Alabama to reduce barriers to practice and improve access to care. As president of the NPAA from 2012 to 2013, she championed numerous legislative and regulatory efforts that exponentially increased practice opportunities for NPs to improve access to care for rural Alabamians. Dr. Deupree was a faculty member in the UAB School of Nursing from 1999 to 2019, where she held numerous leadership positions, and in 2019, she relocated to the University of South Carolina College of Nursing, where sh e was a professor and Associate Dean for Practice Innovation, Partnerships. In 2023, she returned to the UAB School of Nursing and was a professor and Director of Health Policy Partnerships in the Office of Clinical and Global Partnerships from 2023 to 2024. 

Lorna Finnegan, PhD, RN, FNP, FAAN

Loyola University Chicago  

Lorna Finnegan joined Loyola University Chicago in 2019 as Professor and Dean of the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing. She brings extensive experience in academic research, teaching, clinical practice, and leadership to her role. Dr. Finnegan earned her BSN, MS, and PhD from the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Nursing. Before joining Loyola, she held leadership positions at UIC, including Executive Associate Dean and Department Head. Earlier in her career, she served as the Founding Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Saint Xavier University in Chicago. She is also the past president of the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, the leading organization dedicated to advancing quality nurse practitioner education. Her scholarship, clinical practice, a nd leadership focus on integrating big data analytics, strategic academic-practice partnerships, innovative teaching strategies, and policy-shaping leadership to enhance access to primary care and promote health equity among vulnerable and underserved populations. Dr. Finnegan has received National Institutes of Health funding for her research on symptom clusters in adults with multiple chronic illnesses and has been recognized with numerous awards for her contributions to teaching, research, and leadership. She has also served as a visiting scholar at universities in Thailand, South Africa, and South Korea.

Stephen A. Ferrara, DNP, FNP, FAANP, FAAN

Columbia University School of Nursing

Dr. Stephen A. Ferrara is a Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of clinical experience. He currently serves as the president of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and is the inaugural associate dean of artificial intelligence and professor at the Columbia University School of Nursing. Dr. Ferrara has held leadership roles in various healthcare organizations and has a diverse clinical background including college, correctional, retail, men's, and occupational health. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Doctoral Nursing Practice.

During his tenure as the executive director of the Nurse Practitioner Association New York State, Dr. Ferrara played a key role in eliminating barriers to NP practice, culminating in the passage of the landmark NP Modernization Act in 2022. This law removed the requirement for collaborative agreements between experienced NPs and physicians, granting full practice authority in New York State.

Dr. Ferrara's commitment to quality care is demonstrated t hrough his passion for health care technology and his efforts to integrate evidence-based practice into daily healthcare. His leadership has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners' NY State Award for Clinical Excellence in June 2012, and his induction as a fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, National Academies of Practice, and the American Academy of Nursing.
