Principal Functions and Responsibilities: The CON seeks individuals with expertise in AGACNP and NNP education. Specific teaching responsibilities may include teaching didactic content in classroom and/or online settings, supervising students in clinical settings, and supervising students in the DNP scholarly project series. Specific teaching assignments will depend upon the candidate’s teaching experience, clinical background, certifications, and teaching needs within the College. Faculty will be expected to contribute to program development, write or revise curriculum, serve on college committees, and participate in professional activities/service. Development of clinically focused scholarship is expected for retention and academic promotion.
Criteria: Candidates must hold a doctor of nursing practice degree from an accredited college or school of nursing and hold a current Utah APRN license with prescriptive authority or be qualified for licensure in the State of Utah. Utah is a Nurse Licensure Compact state. National certification as an AGACNP or NNP is also required. Teaching experience, including teaching in classroom, clinical, and simulation settings, is preferred. Relevant health care experience, including established clinical expertise in adult/gerontology acute care or neonatal nursing and strong organizational, and communication skills are required. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with patients and other members of the health care and academic team are essential. Applicants must be willing to reside in the state of Utah, and work on-site at the College of Nursing and/or at health care facilities in the Salt Lake Valley.
