The University of Virginia School of Nursing is seeking its inaugural Associate Dean for Academic Operations (ADAO). Reporting directly to the dean, the incumbent will provide leadership to support direction and development of operational capacity to benefit the school’s academic programs and initiatives. Working closely with other senior leaders and faculty, the ADAO will foster innovation and build scaffolding that promotes excellence in the school’s top-ranked undergraduate and graduate programs as well as oversee the school’s evaluation and accreditation processes. Additionally, the ADAO will lead teams related to admissions, student affairs, interprofessional collaboration, clinical simulation, and professional development.
The ADAO serves on the senior leadership team at the School of Nursing; this team collaborates with the dean to create, implement, and evaluate strategic initiatives at the school. The ADAO’s primary focus is instructional support services for the school. As a leader who contributes to a healthy work environment, the ADAO collaborates to guide the direction of operational supports for academic programs, advocates for the instructional mission, and serves in an ex-officio capacity on assigned committees. The ADAO works closely with other administrative officers to ensure the missions of the school are met. This is a 12-month position that is both administrative and contributes to the teaching mission of the school.
Candidates must be eligible for licensure to practice nursing in Virginia, hold a doctorate in nursing or a related field, and be eligible for the rank of associate or full professor. The committee will consider candidates who would be tenured/tenure track or general faculty.
