Are you a visionary nurse leader ready to shape the future of nursing education, research, and service? The University of Maine School of Nursing (SON) invites applications for the position of Director of the School of Nursing — a dynamic opportunity to lead a top-tier academic unit at Maine’s flagship R1 research institution.

As the chief academic and administrative officer of the SON, the Director will guide the School’s mission, vision, and values by fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive environment for faculty, students, and staff. This position plays a central role in driving academic excellence, strategic innovation, and impactful research while advancing the School’s presence at the state, regional, and national levels.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead curriculum development and academic programming with a focus on excellence and innovation.

  • Oversee faculty and staff development, evaluation, and recruitment to sustain a culture of excellence and growth.

  • Collaborate with university leadership to ensure the SON is well-resourced and aligned with institutional priorities.

  • Ensure the SON meets and exceeds accreditation and state regulatory standards.

  • Promote faculty and student scholarship, research, and public service across the state and beyond.

  • Serve as a leader and liaison with stakeholders within the university and across the healthcare and legislative communities.

  • Participate in teaching and/or research as part of a 70% administrative, 15% teaching, and 15% research appointment.
