The full-time nursing faculty is responsible for all duties of the college as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement including teaching and advising. In addition, the faculty member in nursing is responsible to:
- Potentially Coordinate a nursing course
- Coordinate ATI resources for a nursing course
- Coordinate testing including blueprinting and administering exams
- Perform 6 to 12 hours of clinical per semester and complete competencies such as background screen, drug screen, titers, flu shot, Covid-19 vaccination etc.
- Assist with any and all accreditation responsibilities
- Participate in all program meetings and activities and work towards tenure at the college
- Experience in Medical-Surgical nursing, Critical care, or Emergency Room nursing.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The nursing faculty’s primary responsibility is to the college and to the program. While the college does not specifically state the faculty cannot be otherwise employed, it has to be clear that the employee is to be available between the hours of 7am to 7pm for clinical and throughout the week from 830 am to 4:30 pm for their teaching and administrative duties and cannot be otherwise employed during those hours. The faculty must become competent and proficient with the utilization of college web services and course platforms such as blackboard, ATI and google meet and other online programs or have the capacity to learn said programs. The faculty should be an experienced educator and must be able to coordinate a theory class and co requisite clinical course. The ability to work well with others is essential in this position. Ideally a candidate with specialty areas in medical surgical nursing and maternity or pediatrics is desired.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Required:
Master’s degree in specialty area is required (clinical masters’ degree or master’s degree in teaching within nursing or a PhD or NP focused on teaching or clinical practice)
Experience Required:
Clinical and classroom teaching experience, preferably 3 years. Competence with online programs, teaching and ability to quickly learn to utilize new technology.
Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements:- CPR certification
- Negative drug screen
- NJ nursing license
- All required titers, vaccinations etc to access the clinical setting
- Clinical competencies required by hospital facilities for clinical
INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:
Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
