Course Objectives
- Differentiate between research, evidence-based practice and quality improvement processes.
- Describe the steps in the evidence-based practice process.
- Describe the components of the clinical question, including the patient/population, intervention, comparison, and outcome(s).
- Integrate the evidence review process into the development of the clinical question, key terms, and search strategies.
- Determine level of evidence using a variety of hierarchies to assess the credibility of the evidence.
- Critically appraise research evidence including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods designs using a variety of appraisal tools.
- Identify appropriate measure tools for specific clinical outcomes.
