The Institute of Medicine's Future of Nursing report advised nursing education programs to integrate and embed leadership content within all areas of pre-licensure nursing curriculum. This presentation will discuss the findings from a critical literature review synthesizing the state of the science of leadership curricula in pre-licensure baccalaureate nursing education programs from 2008 to 2013. Progress and gaps will be identified and discussed.

Kelly J. Morrow, MSN, RN

Ms. Morrow has been teaching in the undergraduate nursing program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas since August 2012. She is a clinical faculty coordinator in UNLV’s dedicated education unit. In this role she mentors and assists specially trained staff nurses (clinical dedicated instructors) as they supervise students in the clinical nursing role. Ms. Morrow also plans and presents continuing education offerings at the DEU partner facility, and debriefs all levels of undergraduate nursing students as simulation concierge. She is a certified nurse educator, board certified in medical surgical nursing, and has over 20 years of clinical nursing experience in critical care, surgical services, and cardiology. Ms. Morrow is in the second year of her PhD program at the University of Colorado, Denver/Anshutz Medical Campus in the Caring Science track.
