The Power of Nursing is unique and significant because it emphasizes the fundamentals of successful nursing practice, specifically reconnecting with the human elements of deep listening, presence, acceptance, loss, grief, healing, courage and self-care. Through this webinar the presenters will provide an overview of the Power of Nursing which will give participants a new perspective on teaching.

Ms. Mary Thomas is a registered nurse and has a master’s degree from the Wright State University-Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health. She is board certified as an advanced holistic nurse (AHN-BC) and is a certified healing touch practitioner (CHTP). Thomas is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society of nursing and coordinates an annual Holistic Nursing Conference sponsored by Wright State University’s Zeta Phi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau. She is the Dayton Area Chapter leader for the American Holistic Nurses Association and serves on the Boonshoft School of Medicine’s advisory committee for the Medical-Spirituality Conference.

Dr. Betsy Kennedy is a registered nurse with over 25 years with experience practicing in obstetrical settings. Dr. Kennedy has a broad background in nursing education with a primary teaching focus on foundations for professional nursing practice and nurse educator courses, and primary administrative focus with faculty orientation and professional development, specifically transitioning and mentoring of faculty. In an academic appointment for over 20 years at Vanderbilt University school of Nursing, she has taught a variety of courses to students in every program, and spent the last years focused on faculty relationships, winning awards for teaching, fostering faculty/student relationships, mentoring of faculty, and educational innovation. She is active in her professional organization, and publishes and presents across the country on a variety of topics in high risk and critical care obstetrics, as well as nursing education.

This webinar is free to deans, faculty, staff and students from AACN member schools of nursing. All non-member audiences will be required to pay a $59 webinar fee.
Continuing Education Credits
Eligible attendees may receive one continuing nursing education (CNE) contact hour for participating in this webinar. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) is an accredited CNE-provider by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
