Nursing schools face mounting pressure to prepare graduates for AI-enabled healthcare environments. Faculty and deans need foundational AI knowledge to integrate relevant competencies into curricula and prepare students for practice in systems rapidly adopting AI tools. This one-hour session provides nursing faculty and academic leaders with essential baseline knowledge of AI in healthcare delivery. Gain the context needed to prepare nursing students for clinical environments where AI is increasingly embedded in workflows, decision support, and care delivery.

- AI myth-busters and demystifying AI in healthcare to address common misconceptions your students may encounter
- Core types of AI and their use cases in health systems where your graduates will practice
- Real-world examples of AI in clinical action – what nurses are actually encountering at the bedside and in operational roles
- The risks and benefits of AI deployment in clinical and operational settings your students need to understand
- What successful AI adoption looks like in healthcare organizations (and what it means for nursing practice and education)

Alex Polyak

The Health Management Academy
Alex Polyak is a Director of Research at The Health Management Academy, a peer learning and research company that brings together Leading Health Systems and industry executives to collectively address the industry's biggest challenges and opportunities. Alex leads research for the AI Catalyst program – a national incubator for impactful, safe AI adoption among the nation’s leading health systems. As part of his role, Alex regularly presents on research and healthcare trends at industry events.
Prior to joining The Academy, Alex was a researcher at the Advisory Board focused on clinOps management. He worked with health systems across the USA, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. Alex was a Fulbright Scholar in India and holds a BA in South Asian Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and is based in Washington DC.
Anne Herleth, MPH, MSW

Anne oversees multiple health system membership programs, including Nursing Catalyst—a national nursing innovation incubator among the nation’s leading health systems. As part of her role, Anne regularly presents on research and healthcare trends at industry events.
Prior to joining The Academy, Anne was a research director at the Advisory Board and oversaw nursing and clinical operations research for health system members. She previously worked for a social sciences research firm in Rockville, MD and as a social worker in community-based clinics in St. Louis, MO. Anne holds a Master’s in Public Health and a Master’s in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. She lives in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband, daughter, and dog.
