Seminar Details

Nurses at every level, from the bedside to the classroom, the research lab to the innovation hub, are already making decisions alongside AI systems. What is less settled is whether the governance structures surrounding those systems are designed to protect clinical judgment, preserve professional accountability, and advance equitable outcomes. This session examines the evolving policy and regulatory landscape of AI in healthcare, the equity and workforce implications the profession cannot afford to defer, and the concrete ways nurses across all roles and settings can assert their leadership voice in the institutional and policy decisions that will define how AI develops in healthcare.

What will be covered?

  • An overview of the current AI governance landscape in healthcare, including why it remains evolving and unsettled, and what this means for nursing education and practice
  • Key equity and workforce considerations associated with AI adoption, with attention to how these issues impact patient care, professional roles, and healthcare systems
  • The role of nurses in shaping AI-related decisions, including opportunities to engage in institutional, educational, and policy discussions that influence how AI is developed, evaluated, and implemented

Why should you join? This session provides participants with an understanding of AI policies and regulations in healthcare—information that is essential to ensuring nurses' voice as leaders in the development of AI tools in care settings.
