Northern Arizona University
Garrett Mitchell is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Northern Arizona University's College of Nursing, where he serves as a didactic lecturer and clinical instructor for medical-surgical and critical care courses, and mentors students transitioning to clinical practice and to academia. With over two decades of nursing leadership experience, he has held progressive management roles, including Clinical Manager overseeing 90 employees at a Level I Trauma Center and Director of Nursing at a surgery center. He has led interdisciplinary teams and developed comprehensive training curricula. His expertise in professional development is demonstrated through his design and facilitation of Preceptor Academy programs, nurse residency curricula, and his recurring presentations to the Student Nurses Association on resume writing, cover letters, and behavioral interviewing techniques. He holds an MS in Nursing from Northern Arizona University, maintains certifications as a CMSRN and CNOR, and serves as faculty for the American Heart Association and the Society of Trauma Nurses while actively contributing as a content reviewer for MEDSURG Nursing journal.
