IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - AACN's March Events Cancelled
Given the unfolding public health concern posed by the Coronavirus and the critical leadership roles our members play on campus and in their home communities related to care delivery and prevention, AACN has moved to cancel the Deans Annual Meeting, Executive Development Series for Deans, Student Policy Summit, and the Nursing Advancement Professionals Conference planned for March 19-24, 2020 in Washington, DC. This difficult decision was made after much deliberation, a review of the latest evidence, and in the best interest of our members’ health and safety.
Full refunds of the registration fees will be processed for the cancelled events within the next 30 days. We urge you to contact your hotel to cancel your room reservation at least 72 hours in advance of when you were scheduled to arrive. Most major airlines are currently waiving change/cancellation fees for tickets purchased for March travel. For additional questions regarding these conferences, please reach out to conferences@aacnnursing.org.
AACN's Advancing Academic Leadership for New Deans meeting and CCNE's Invitational Workshop on Writing Self Studies will continue with an online offering, and additional information will be shared with those respective registrants shortly.

Introduction of the Nebo team
Meet the team from The Nebo Company and learn about their leadership principles. They will present an overview that prepares participants to make the most of the EDS program on leading change.
Facilitator: Margo Street
9:00-10:00 a.m.
The Inner Game of Change
The facilitators will begin by examining the context of academic nursing within which change is taking place. They will then introduce the Inner Game Formula (Performance = potential - interference) and demonstrate how to use this simple tool to remove barriers and open up possibilities.

Navigating Complexity
The nature of higher education has changed dramatically as a result of new technologies, globalization, shifts in demographics and other forces. The facilitators will host a discussion of what complexity looks like in academic nursing today, inviting participants to identify and discuss the skills, perspective and capabilities they need in order to succeed in leadership roles. Attendees will explore concepts such as polarities and signals that serve as leadership tools for navigating complexity.
Facilitator: Randy Chittum

Accelerating Change
As higher education evolves from a historically hierarchical system towards a more flexible, collaborative model, nurse educators must be able to see the structures, cultures and realities that influence outcomes. How do things actually “get done?” Who must be considered when leading change? The facilitators will introduce systems thinking and what leaders need to understand in order to influence change. Participants will be able to identify the eight levers for accelerating change in their institutions.
Facilitator: Margo Street
2:30-3:00 p.m.
Networking Break
3:00-4:30 p.m.
The Change Leader's Mindset
Leading change can be challenging when looking at the same issues from the
same angles. The facilitators will explore what it means to shift your mindset and begin to look at old issues in new ways. Participants will consider “the inner game,” including how to notice and overcome our physiological and psychological barriers to change. We will discuss strategies for reframing and simplifying the inner narrative of leading change in order to manage and lead complex issues with focus, confidence and perspective.
Facilitators: Margo Street & Randy Chittum
