Details

Due to the overwhelming response, we have closed registration and our waitlists are full.

The Essentials Task Force will share key elements of the Essentials, which are used to shape the development of undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, including domains, domain descriptors, competencies, and sub-competencies. Attendees will be able to review and provide input on the materials presented, which will shape future iterations of the Essentials as the re-envisioning process moves forward. We encourage deans and faculty from member schools to attend a virtual meeting along with their practice partners.

Important Note: This meeting will focus on the Essentials related to Advanced Level Professional Nursing Education (master’s and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs).

Those attending will be required to complete some important work prior to the meeting. This preparation will provide the background and context for the discussion and allow for a majority of the meeting time to be used to receive feedback from the participants. Approximately one week in advance of the meeting, we will send to each registrant the following to review:

  • Three videos (10-30 minutes in length) to provide context on competency-based education and the Essentials re-envisioning work
  • White Paper on AACN's Vision for Academic Nursing
  • Current draft of the re-envisioned Essentials

If you are not able to complete the work beforehand, we ask that you do not register at this time so others may register who are able to fully engage in the process. We value your feedback, and will provide other opportunities for you to provide input on the Essentials as we move toward consensus.

Participation is limited to the first 120 registrants, with two members allowed from each school.
