Victoria Rich, PhD, MSN
Associate Professor of Nursing Administration
University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing

Dr. Victoria Rich is recognized for her leadership in healthcare, business, nursing education, patient safety and cultural diversity. She is the 2013 recipient of the AONE Prism Diversity award, featured in Nurse Leader (2013). Developed and published worldwide patient safety initiatives and received the National VHA Patient Safety Award (2000). Co-founded Rich Consultants (1997) providing global expertise in Patient Safety and Transformational Nursing Leadership. Dr. Rich was the Chief Nurse Executive for the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center from 2002-2012. This administrative tenure was aligned with Dr. Afaf Meleis’s tenure as the Dean of the University of Pennsylvania School Of Nursing. In 2013, Dr. Rich and Dr. Meleis were jointly recognized for their collaborative partnership and were selected for the AACN Exemplary Academic-Practice Partnership Award. Dr. Rich is currently an Associate Professor of Nursing Administration at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, PA State Steering Committee Chair for the Pennsylvania Action Coalition for the Future of Nursing, ANCC Magnet Consultant and an Ambassador for National Institute of Nursing Research. Dr. Rich has a MSN and PhD in Nursing Administration from the University of Pittsburgh and is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.

Aditi Rao, PhD, MSN
Nurse Research Scientist
University of Pennsylvania Health System

Dr. Rao is a Nurse Scientist at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to beginning in this role, Dr. Rao completed her doctorate in nursing at the University of Pennsylvania, mentored by Dr. Lois Evans. Her dissertation research examined the influence of network characteristics and support structures on turnover intention among nursing home directors of nursing. Dr. Rao has worked in administrative and clinical roles in long-term and acute care settings. She began her nursing career as a clinical nurse at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania before going on to work for a national long-term care corporation. While in long-term care, Dr. Rao worked both in a nursing home facility as an Assistant Director of Nursing and Director of Clinical Education and, later, as a corporate consultant developing and implementing a national RN preceptor program. Her research areas of interests include clinical leadership and the care of older adults. As a Nurse Scientist at HUP, Dr. Rao is currently the Associate Director of a HRSA-funded project that aims to develop a nurse-led interprofessional collaborative practice model to strengthen care delivery for older adults in the acute care setting.
