Understanding the Revisions to the 2018 CCNE Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs.
The CCNE Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs were revised by the CCNE Board of Commissioners in June 2018 and go into effect January 1, 2019. Learn what’s new, what’s changed, and how the revised standards will impact nursing programs at the baccalaureate and graduate levels. Join CCNE for four special webinars, each focusing on a specific standard along with the accompanying key elements, elaborations, and supporting documentation. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of members of the CCNE Standards Committee and staff.

Objectives

- Find out what assistance and resources are available to CCNE constituents during the transition to the 2018 Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs, and when the revised standards will go into effect.

Debra Davis, PhD, RN
Dean and Professor Emeritus
University of South Alabama College of Nursing
Dr. Davis has served as a program evaluator for CCNE since its inception. She was elected to the Board of Commissioners for CCNE and served two terms. She also served two terms on the Report Review Committee for CCNE and one year on the Accreditation Review Committee. Most recently, Dr. Davis served as the co-chair for the CCNE Accreditation Standards Committee. Dr. Davis retired on May 1, 2018 from the University of South Alabama. During her tenure at USA she served as the dean of the College of Nursing for 19 years.
Mary Jane Hanson PhD, CRNP, CNS, RN, FNP-BC, ANP-BC, ACNS-BC

Nurse Practitioner at LVPG Family Practice
Dr. Hanson received her BSN from Cedar Crest College and her MSN and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. She is nationally certified as a family nurse practitioner, adult nurse practitioner, and adult clinical nurse specialist. Dr. Hanson is a professor of nursing and director of the graduate nursing and DNP programs at the University of Scranton. Additionally, she practices as a family nurse practitioner at LVPG Family Practice in Albrightsville, PA. Dr. Hanson currently serves as vice chair of the CCNE Board of Commissioners, co-chair of the Substantive Change Review Committee, and member of the Standards Committee. She previously served for 8 years on the Report Review Committee. Dr. Hanson has been a CCNE site visitor and team leader since 1999. Additionally, in her position at the University of Scranton, she has authored several self-study documents and continuous improvement program reports. Dr. Hanson has published more than 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented at numerous national and international conferences. Her work on cigarette smoking behavior in ethnically diverse teens and adolescents has been awarded grant funding from the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health. She was recently inducted as a fellow into the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
