Nursing schools are faced with a new generation of digital natives who are very active on social media. This presentation will teach the legal and professional implications to social media use and offer teaching ideas for faculty responsible for educating future nurses on how to responsibly use social media.

- Discuss the impact of social media use on the professionalism of nursing students and clinicians.

Creighton University
Andrea M. Jahn, JD, joined Creighton University in 2002 and represents the schools of Nursing Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy and Health Professions. Prior to joining Creighton, she was in private practice, specializing in health law, and provided legal representation to a variety of healthcare providers in Nebraska and Iowa. She has given numerous presentations to the healthcare community on a variety of legal issues, including HIPAA, general compliance issues, social media in health care, and patient rights. Ms. Jahn is a member of the Nebraska Bar Association and a member of the Bar’s Publications Committee. She is on the board of the Douglas County Health Center Foundation and is a community representative of the Nebraska Foster Care Review Board.
