Commonly asked questions regarding clinical practice experiences will be addressed, including what types of practice experiences are appropriate for students enrolled in RN-BSN and master’s-level nursing education tracks, and programs offered via distance.

Dr. Linda Caldwell holds a BS from Northeastern University, an MS from Boston College, a Doctorate in Nursing Science from Boston University, and a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Study in Primary Care from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. She is Board Certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Currently, Dr. Caldwell is Professor Emeritus, School of Nursing Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts. She is a member of the CCNE Board of Commissioners, the Substantive Change Review Committee, and the Standards Review Committee. She has served as Chair and Vice Chair of the CCNE Board, an on-site evaluation team leader, and as a member of the CCNE Accreditation Review Committee.

Dr. Susan Ruppert received her PhD degree in nursing from Texas Woman’s University. She completed a post-graduate Family Nurse Practitioner program at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She is certified as both a Family Nurse Practitioner and an Adult Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Ruppert has held numerous national leadership positions within professional organizations. She is currently Chair of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Board of Commissioners, Co-Chair of the CCNE Accreditation Review Committee, and member of the CCNE Standards Committee. Dr. Ruppert is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American College of Critical Care Medicine, and the National Academies of Practice, an interdisciplinary organization representing 14 different health professions.

Dr. Joan Stanley is Chief Academic Officer at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. Dr. Stanley received her BSN from Duke University, an MS in Nursing from the University of Maryland at Baltimore, and a PhD in Higher Education Policy and Organization from the University of Maryland at College Park. Dr. Stanley serves as AACN’s representative to numerous nursing education initiatives including the APRN LACE Network which developed the Model for APRN Regulation: Licensure, Accreditation, Certification and Education. Dr. Stanley has provided leadership for the development of the Essentials and many major position statements on a variety of nursing education issues, including the RN to BSN, the Research-Focused Doctorate, the move of Advanced Practice Nursing to the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, and the creation of a new master’s prepared nurse - the Clinical Nurse Leader. Her book, Advanced Practice Nursing: Emphasizing Common Roles is in its third edition.
