Understanding the Revisions to the 2018 CCNE Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs.
The CCNE Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs were revised by the CCNE Board of Commissioners in June 2018 and go into effect January 1, 2019. Learn what’s new, what’s changed, and how the revised standards will impact nursing programs at the baccalaureate and graduate levels. Join CCNE for four special webinars, each focusing on a specific standard along with the accompanying key elements, elaborations, and supporting documentation. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of members of the CCNE Standards Committee and staff.

President Emerita
Research College of Nursing
Dr. DeBasio holds a BS with a major in Nursing from Wagner College; an MA in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing from New York University, and a PhD in Educational Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. DeBasio has worked in higher education for more than 40 years holding both faculty and administrative positions. She is President Emerita of Research College of Nursing after retiring in December 2017. Dr. DeBasio served two two-year terms as a member at large on the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Board of Directors. She chaired the Governmental Affairs Committee during her tenure on the Board. In addition, Dr. DeBasio has served as a team chair for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) since 2003. She served as a member of the CCNE Standards Review Committee and currently co-chairs the Substantive Change Review Committee. Dr. DeBasio is also engaged in several community boards in the greater Kansas City area including the Research Medical Center, the Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care Association and the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) boards. She is also a member of The Research Foundation’s Advisory Directors. Dr. DeBasio was selected as a member of the American Academy of Nursing’s Class of 2012 Fellows. She currently serves the Academy as a member of the Development Committee and the President’s Circle. In October 2013 she was awarded honorary membership in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. In October 2016 the American Association of Colleges of Nursing presented her with the Sr. Bernadette Armiger award given for her contributions to nursing education.
Senior Director and Professor

Dr. Simmons is an experienced nursing educator, evaluator, and leader. A tenured professor with 20 years of teaching experience in undergraduate/graduate nursing programs and is responsible for curriculum development/revision, program evaluation, and oversight for baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral nursing programs. In addition, Dr. Simmons has 20 years of experience serving in leadership roles in academic and practice settings (eight of which were as chief nursing officer in an academic health sciences center). Dr. Simmons has served as an evaluator for CCNE since 1998 and has functioned in the team leader role since 2010. She is a member of CCNE’s Standards Committee, co-chair of the Accreditation Review Committee, and secretary of the Board of Commissioners. Dr. Simmons also previously served as chairperson for CCNE’s Nominating Committee.
