Carli Zegers, BSN, RN

2017 Johnson & Johnson - AACN Minority Nurse Faculty Scholar
Carli Zegers is a full-time graduate student working to obtain both her PhD and FNP at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Her PhD focus is in health literacy, self-management strategies, and vulnerable or underserved populations. Carli is an experienced emergency room nurse who is currently working at OrthoNebraska emergency room; she is also a Graduate Assistant working as part of the research and practice team of the UNMC Office of Transformational Practice and Partnership. Carli obtained her BS in nursing from Creighton University’s accelerated nursing program. Prior to entering nursing, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. Carli was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation New Careers in Nursing (NCIN) scholar when pursuing her BS in nursing. She has participated in many leadership activities, including the Markoe Leadership program. She is the Past-President of the NCIN Scholars Association and is the current Secretary. Carli founded the Nebraska Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses and had served as the chapter president for the past three years and is the current Treasurer. She has worked on many projects with the Nebraska Action Coalition both regionally and nationally. Her current academic performance has been recognized through receipt of numerous scholarships including the Nellie House Craven scholarship, Advanced Education Nursing Traineeship, and an ALIGN-APP Grant. Carli has been recognized for her commitment to her community and institution with many honors, including the Nebraska Action Coalition 40 Under 40 Award, a UNMC Student Senate Impact Award, a UNMC Living Legacy Scholarship, and the UNMC New Inventor Award. Carli is a recipient of the Johnson & Johnson-AACN Minority Nurse Faculty Scholarship for her commitment to improving the health of vulnerable and diverse populations and communities through nursing practice and leadership.

This webinar is free to deans, faculty, staff and students from AACN member schools of nursing. All non-member audiences will be required to pay a $59 webinar fee.

Eligible attendees may receive one continuing nursing education (CNE) contact hour for participating in this webinar. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) is an accredited CNE-provider by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
