Webinar Overview

Kindred Healthcare is a nationwide organization that supports patients in two unique long-term settings; long-term acute care hospitals and rehabilitation hospitals. Nurses in these settings are exposed to complex patients that require a skillset to manage high-pressure situations and difficult conversations. With the goal to keep our patients and caregivers protected from COVID-19 and continue to prepare a patient for a lower level of care or to get back to their normal functional level, nurses that have a toolkit for personal well-being will be more effective and satisfied in their work, their lives, their relationships, and with themselves. This webinar will introduce common problematic mindsets, metacognition, and mindful awareness techniques to help control the mind and body response to stress inherent in the nursing profession especially in these trying times.

After participating in this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • The learner will consider how mindsets attribute to personal distress.
  • Understand common negative automatic thoughts and cognitive distortions.
  • Create a toolkit of techniques to enhance personal well-being.
  • Apply concepts to nursing in long-term acute care and rehabilitation hospital settings and as it relates to the pressure of supporting patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
