Evaluation of an Emerging Technology

Overview

New healthcare innovations offer the advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) an opportunity to apply emerging technologies in practice to improve quality and patient outcomes. The purpose of this assignment is to evaluate the impact of an emerging technology and related regulations and policies on health care delivery and equitable care.

How to Use

Provide a topic that has an appropriate resource for students to review. Complete the graphic organizer (download Emerging Technologies Graphic Organizer) with the required information for each section. Topic areas include:

  • Evaluation of emerging technology to enhance value, quality, and cost-effectiveness in healthcare.
  • Advocate for policies and regulations for selected emerging technology.
  • Equitable care for underserved populations.

Integrative Learning Strategies

Faculty may utilize this strategy in either on-campus or online classroom discussion forums. Students complete the graphic organizer individually or in small work groups. Optional to have students prepare a brief presentation to the class via classroom presentation or online in a recorded video presentation.
