Dean, School of Nursing

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites nominations, expressions of interest, and applications for the position of Dean, School of Nursing. UNLV seeks a scholar  with the vision and leadership skills necessary to partner with Dr. Diane Z. Chase, UNLV’s newly appointed Executive Vice President and Provost, in further developing and implementing  a new and compelling vision for the School.

The School of Nursing

For more than half a century, the UNLV School of Nursing has contributed to the advancement of health care through its student-focused curriculum, hands-on learning, and industry-experienced faculty. The School educates almost 200 undergraduate and 100 graduate-level nursing students within four degree programs (BS, MS, PhD, and DNP) and is served by a 35 member faculty.  

The School’s baccalaureate and master's programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and have full approval by the Nevada State Board of Nursing. The next accreditation review by the CCNE for these programs will be during 2023. The new UNLV doctor of nursing practice program has begun the process of applying for CCNE accreditation with a site visit scheduled for fall, 2017. Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Vice President & Provost, the Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the School of Nursing and is responsible for providing energetic, visionary and effective leadership for the organization. The Dean will oversee the School's operations and the strategic allocation of resources to ensure the continued excellence of Nursing faculty and its programs. In addition, the Dean will develop and articulate the long-range strategic vision and specific strategies in support of UNLV's Top-Tier Initiative. The Dean will also work closely with the University's executive leadership in leading the School’s engagement in cross-campus, multidisciplinary partnerships that will significantly increase opportunities for innovation and research productivity.
