The Inner Game of Leading Change

The Executive Development Series is open exclusively to the primary Dean/Chair/Director of AACN-Member Schools of Nursing.

The past year has laid bare what has always been true: the complexity of the healthcare and higher education sectors demands that leaders and institutions be agile and change capable. In this session, participants will explore how their performance in an ever-changing, complex world is equal to what they are capable of when they shift their mindsets and remove self-limiting interferences.

AACN announced approval of the New AACN Essentials to reflect future needs of the nursing workforce and healthcare delivery as well as trends in higher education. AACN must bring academic nursing leaders along in this significant change effort. EDS for Deans is an opportunity to help deans prepare for proactively leading their institutions toward the New AACN Essentials. In this 1.5-day session connected to the Deans Annual Meeting, attendees will explore what it means for leaders and institutions to be agile and change capable.

Objectives:

1.  Examine the context of academic nursing and gain tools for navigating complexity.

2.  Explore how change within organizations actually happens and identify levers for accelerating change in your institution.

3.  Uncover and gain tools to overcome your internal barriers to change.
