National Call to Action for Nurse Faculty Recognition

AACN has joined The DAISY Foundation™ to issue a National Call for Nurse Faculty Recognition to honor academic leaders responsible for preparing the nation's nursing workforce. AACN encourages those wishing to formally recognize nurse educators to consider using The DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty. This award was created to honor nursing faculty who inspire their students to provide high quality, compassionate care. To date, more than 560 nurse educators have been recognized with this distinguished honor. Learn more.

AACN is committed to celebrating the faculty role and spotlighting the efforts made to recognize nurse educators in our newsletters, on the website, and at our regional meetings and conferences. Please send details about local efforts to showcase nurse faculty to

  • ELNEC- Undergraduate Champion BSN and Pre-Licensure Programs: Is Your School on the List?

    Faculty— June 21, 2019

Are your students meeting the AACN CARES palliative care competencies for all undergraduate nursing students? These competencies prepare students to provide primary palliative care, which all patients with serious illness and their families need and employers are demanding. The interactive, online 6 one-hour modules that comprise the ELNEC- Undergraduate Curriculum prepare all students to meet these competencies. Today, there are over 9,000 students, representing more than 200 schools of nursing across the nation, who have completed or are completing the curriculum since the launch of the curriculum in January 2017. See the ELNEC-Undergraduate Champions List for BSN and pre-licensure programs that are leading the way!
