AACN's Essentials Implementation Tool Kit
The Essentials Tool Kit is a continuously evolving resource designed to assist faculty and others engaged in implementing the new Essentials, including the transition to competency-based education and competency-based assessment. The Tool Kit provides recommendations and examples of learning strategies, suggested resources, recommended content, and assessment strategies the domains and concepts identified in the Essentials. This resource also includes a variety of tools developed by faculty and stakeholders to help schools align their programs with the new Essentials, including:

HRSA Funding Opportunities to Support Nursing Education
|
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), recently announced funding opportunities aimed at increasing the nursing workforce and improving nursing education and practice to address health equity in underserved areas.
Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention - Registered Nurse Training Program
To enhance the nursing workforce to meet the needs of the nation’s diverse communities, this program aims to increase the number of nursing students prepared in acute care settings to address and manage social determinants of health factors and improve health equity among underserved populations. Eligible applicants include accredited schools of nursing, healthcare facilities, or a partnership of such a school or facility.

Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention - Clinical Faculty and Preceptor Academies Program
To increase the nursing workforce, this program aims to create academies consisting of academic-clinical partnerships that will develop and implement a formal curriculum to train clinical nursing faculty and preceptors. The program will increase the nursing workforce by recruiting, training, and producing skilled clinical nursing faculty and preceptors. Eligible applicants include accredited schools of nursing, healthcare facilities, or a partnership of such a school or facility.

AACN Essentials Implementation Webinar Series
To facilitate the transition to the 2021 Essentials, AACN launched a series of webinars to help schools implement the new competency expectations for professional nursing programs. These events highlight basic how-to’s as well as practical approaches to curriculum alignment and competency evaluation. To date, 12 webinars have been offered.

TIGER: Special Training Opportunity Focused on Genomics
|
Launched by the Vanderbilt School of Nursing, the TIGER initiative - Translation and Integration of Genomics Is Essential to Doctoral Nursing - was launched to help faculty translate and integrate genetic and genomic content into nursing curricula, scholarship, and practice. TIGER has issued a new call for applications for faculty in doctoral programs (PhD and DNP) to participate in a year-long training opportunity that commences with a preconference workshop on January 17, 2023 in conjunction with AACN’s Doctoral Conference in San Diego, CA and continues with webinars and web conferences throughout the year. Those interested may apply for a stipend (up to $1500) to cover the costs related to conference attendance. Applications are due by September 1, 2022.
