AACN Recognizes the Latest Fellows of the Elevating Leaders in Academic Nursing (ELAN) Program
Photo Collage - Elevating Leaders in Academic Nursing, Cohort III
AACN is pleased to announce that a new cohort of nursing faculty leaders from across the nation have completed AACN’s Elevating Leaders in Academic Nursing (ELAN) program, ELAN is part of the association's leadership development portfolio, AACN LEADS, and is specifically designed for aspiring deans and senior faculty in leadership roles.
Now in its fourth program cycle, ELAN has created a new pathway for over 170 nursing faculty leaders to enhance their leadership skills. Participating faculty received an assessment of their current leadership style and learned valuable skills to accomplish identified goals.
Representing a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and skills, AACN's
ELAN fellows have developed the necessary tools to be leaders in academic nursing.
Exciting News! The application cycle for ELAN's fifth cohort is open.
Faculty interested in participating in ELAN are invited to apply. The program, referred to as "a life changing experience" by a past attendee, provides a focused assessment experience, a range of content and exercises related to successful executive leadership, and the opportunity to establish a peer network that fosters long-term partnerships and collegial support.

Ten Schools of Nursing to Receive Funding from AACN to Accelerate Innovation and Competency-Based Nursing Education
AACN is pleased to announce that 10 schools of nursing have been selected to participate in a national initiative designed to transform nursing education and practice. With funding through the American Nurses Foundation’s Reimagining Nursing Initiative, AACN launched a three-year initiative earlier this year, titled Competency-Based Education for Practice-Ready Nurse Graduates, to accelerate the move to competency-based education and the rapid adoption of The Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education
Through this initiative, AACN is asking nursing schools to develop and implement competency-based learning and assessment in 2 out of the 10 areas of professional nursing competency identified in the Essentials: Population Health and one other Domain chosen by the school of nursing. Selected schools will receive $100,000 in funding to support curriculum redesign efforts as well as technical assistance from AACN through March 2025.
Join us in congratulating Creighton University, Fairfield University, Johns Hopkins University, Russell Sage College, Samuel Merritt University, Texas State University, University of Southern Mississippi, University of Texas-Arlington, Walla Walla University, and Wright State University.
