The Quality & Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) Learning Modules are cutting-edge, interactive learning resources designed to support quality and safety education in nursing programs. These modules are available to nurse faculty and students in entry-level and graduate-level registered nursing programs. Faculty who complete the modules may earn American Nurses Credentialing Center contact hours for each QSEN competency learning module.

Background

Between 2010 and 2014, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing led a faculty development initiative connected to the national QSEN project funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. To further disseminate QSEN teaching strategies, AACN developed a series of web-based learning modules addressing core competencies that support quality and safety in nursing education.

QSEN Core Competencies

  • Patient-centered care
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Evidence-based practice (EBP)
  • Quality improvement (QI)
