AACN Affiliations

Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research Funding: a group of 300 organizations representing patients, volunteers, research institutions, scientists and medical professionals, who agree that research offers the best hope for saving lives, reducing human suffering, and lowering health costs.

Campaign for Public Health: As the only nursing organization on the advisory council, AACN works with other business and health care leaders who are dedicated to advocating for legislation that will accelerate the growth of federal appropriations for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Coalition for Health Funding: nonprofit alliance of 40 national health organizations working in a nonpartisan fashion to ensure that health discretionary spending remains highly visible as Congress and the Administration set federal budget priorities.

Coalition for Patients’ Rights: Consists of 35 organizations representing a variety of licensed health care professionals who provide a diverse array of safe, effective, and affordable health care services to millions of patients each year.

Federation of Associations of Schools of Health Professions (FASHP): a group of 14 organizations presenting schools of the health professions.

Friends of Indian Health (National Indian Health Board): a coalition of over 40 health organizations and individuals dedicated to improving the health care of American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) people.

Friends of NCHS: The Friends of NCHS is a voluntary coalition of more than 200 organizations that support the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). Members of this diverse group-including think tanks, professional associations, and universities-rely on the data collected and maintained by NCHS to conduct research, support advocacy efforts, and influence and inform health policy.

Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research (FNINR): an organization supporting the work of the National Institute of Nursing Research through education about the impact of nursing research.

Friends of VA Medical Care and Health Research (FOVA): FOVA is a coalition representing more than 80 national academic, medical, and scientific societies, voluntary health and patient advocacy associations, and industry. The coalition advocates for the funding needs of health care and research at the Department of Veterans (VA), raises awareness of VAs medical care and research programs, and hosts special events that highlight VA research successes.

Health Professions and Nursing Education Coalition (HPNEC): an alliance of over 50 national organizations dedicated to ensuring the health care workforce is trained to meet the needs of the country's growing, aging, and diverse population.

Partnership to Fight Chronic Diseases: AACN belongs to this national coalition of patients, providers, community organizations, and health policy experts, committed to raising awareness of policies and practices that save lives and reduce health costs through more effective prevention and management of chronic disease.

The Nursing Community: The Nursing Community is a forum for national professional nursing associations to build consensus and advocate on a wide spectrum of health care and nursing issues, including practice, education, and research. The Nursing Community is committed to improving the health and health care of our nation by collaborating to support the education and practice of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs).

TriCouncil for Nursing: an alliance of four autonomous nursing organizations (AACN, ANA, AONE, NLN) focused on leadership for education, practice and research.
