Back to News Call for Nominations & Applications for Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Professional Nursing Wednesday, June 10, 2026 | Faculty & Professional Development As of March 2026, Dr. Patricia Morton retired from her role as editor of the official AACN journal, Journal of Professional Nursing (JPN), and she will serve in an Editor Emerita role. Interim editor-in-chief Dr. Mary Bondmass will serve through December 31, 2026. The Board of Directors of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing is now inviting applications or nominations for the position of editor-in-chief for a term starting January 1, 2027. JPN is a peer-reviewed bimonthly journal that focuses on the practice, research, and policy roles of nurses with baccalaureate and graduate degrees, the education and management concerns of the universities in which they are educated, and the settings in which they practice. Reports of original work, research, reviews, and policy papers focusing on professional nursing are published. JPN is published by Elsevier. AACN seeks outstanding candidates who reflect the variety of interests and perspectives of the communities served by AACN and JPN. All members of AACN and the nursing education community are invited to participate in this process. AACN seeks your opinions and comments on (1) the current state of the journal; (2) recommendations for change, if any; and, most importantly, (3) candidates for editor-in-chief.
