CCNE Board of Commissioners Approves Revisions to Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs

In March, the CCNE Board of Commissioners approved revisions to CCNE’s Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs. A prepublication version of the revised Standards is posted to the CCNE website in early April. Since appointing a Standards Committee in August 2022, CCNE extended three periods of public comment in Fall 2022, Fall 2023, and Winter 2024; held multiple forums where it provided updates and solicited input from constituents; and reviewed more than 1,500 emailed comments and survey responses submitted by its communities of interest. CCNE’s 2018 Standards will remain in effect through December 31, 2024. Any program hosting a CCNE on-site evaluation or due to submit a report (e.g., continuous improvement progress report, compliance report) on or after January 1, 2025, will be assessed under CCNE’s amended 2024 Standards. In the coming months, CCNE will offer webinars and other resources about the revised Standards to assist programs in advance of the January 1, 2025 implementation date.
