AACN Diversity & Inclusion Member Needs Survey

The AACN Diversity and Inclusion Committee request AACN Member School Deans/Directors/Chairs participation in the first Diversity & Inclusion Member Needs Survey.  We aim to understand diversity and inclusion awareness, programming and initiatives for students, staff and faculty at your nursing school and institution.  We are grateful to the nearly 100 schools who submitted responses. We hope to double that amount by the May 31 deadline.

The purpose of this survey is to compile a baseline understanding of the diversity and inclusion initiatives undertaken by your school for students, staff, and faculty. One survey participant shared this perception: “While completing the survey, I was overwhelmed by the fact that we are not doing enough to fulfill our mission on diversity and inclusion.” This is just one of several responses received demonstrating the power of input on crafting a national strategic plan for diversity and inclusion in our nursing schools and programs.

We estimate it will take 20-30 minutes to complete the survey. All responses are confidential and voluntary. To complete the survey, here is a list of reports that will be helpful:

  • Your institutional research reports on the race, ethnicity, and gender of your faculty and students at your college/university and nursing school.

  •  Any descriptions of your curriculum and programming initiatives that support diversity and inclusion programming efforts.

Survey is now closed

Summary data will be analyzed and reported to the Diversity & Inclusion Committee over the summer with a report to follow to the AACN membership. If you have any questions, please contact our Data Strategist, Dr. Gwen Garrison at ggarrison@aacnnursing.org
