ELNEC Expands Partnerships, Leadership, and Impact in Schools of Nursing

The End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) continues to expand its efforts to prepare the palliative care workforce, with a growing emphasis on Schools of Nursing. As ELNEC celebrates 26 years of impact in 2026, its educational reach continues to grow through innovative programs and faculty development initiatives, including highly successful summer workshops at the University of Portland that provided fully supported training for 319 faculty from 46 states.

ELNEC’s impact on nursing education is substantial. To date, 1,278 undergraduate nursing programs have integrated or linked to the ELNEC curriculum, with more than 111,000 undergraduate and new graduate nursing students completing the full curriculum. At the graduate level, 471 programs have accessed ELNEC materials, with over 6,200 graduate students completing the full curriculum. These efforts to support faculty in Schools of Nursing are led by Drs. Andra Davis and Megan Lippe.

ELNEC is also pleased to announce a new partnership with the Medical University of South Carolina College of Nursing (MUSC CON), joining City of Hope and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing as key collaborators. This partnership strengthens ELNEC’s national and global reach and supports its mission to improve the quality of palliative care across settings.

As part of this expansion, Dr. Carrie Cormack has been appointed ELNEC Co-Director alongside Dr. Betty Ferrell, ensuring strong leadership and long-term sustainability. With continued support from institutional partners and faculty leaders, ELNEC will further expand academic-practice partnerships and future programming.
