AACN Deans Annual Meeting to Attract Record Attendance

In this, AACN's 50th anniversary year, record attendance will be set as more than 400 AACN member deans/directors arrive in Washington, DC this week for the 2019 Deans Annual Meeting, March 23-26. Open exclusively to AACN member deans, this prestigious meeting connects members with noted thought leaders to discuss key organizational, funding, and legislative challenges and opportunities impacting nursing education. Recognizing this anniversary year, this year's theme is Reflecting on the Past, Looking to the Future.

The meeting will be highlighted by the presentation of the Geraldine "Polly" Bednash Lectureship Award to Dr. Brenda Zierler, Professor, Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems, University of Washington and the Nurse.com OnCourse Learning Award for Diversity, Inclusion, and Sustainability in Nursing Education to Dr. Marion Broome, Dean and Vice Chancellor for Nursing Affairs, Duke University. An additional highlight will be a presentation by Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (D-IL), an RN and former AACN intern, who will speak to attendees on "New Congress, New Focus: Perspectives from a Nursing Champion!"

Preceding the Deans Annual Meeting will be the Spring Executive Development Series, which is designed for new and aspiring leaders as well as for faculty members who wish to improve their leadership skills for a variety of positions within the academic setting. The Executive Development Series will take place March 22-23.
