AACN Announcement of Senate Testimony

AACN is excited to announce that Dr. Julie Sanford, Director and Professor of the School of Nursing at James Madison University, will be testifying before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on Tuesday, May 22 at 10:00 am (ET). During the hearing titled, The Health Care Workforce: Addressing Shortages and Improving Care, Dr. Sanford will address the impact that the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development programs have in disadvantaged and underserved communities, where there is a critical need for quality health care. She will share her own experience as a recipient of Title VIII funding early in her career and make the case to safeguard strong investments in the nursing workforce now and in the future.

As a member of AACN’s Government Affairs Committee, Dr. Sanford is well-versed on the needs of the healthcare workforce and uniquely positioned to provide insights that speak to the national and local importance of Title VIII. This hearing is a critical step in the legislative process and an important forum to highlight nursing’s role in improving the nation’s health and health care.
