Back to News Policy Watch: National Nurses Week and U.S. Preventive Services Task Force Wednesday, May 13, 2026 | Policy & Advocacy AACN Celebrates National Nurses Week On May 6, the White House released a Presidential Message on National Nurses Day, honoring nurses for their “steadfast dedication to the health and well-being of their fellow citizens.” In response, AACN issued a statement urging the Administration to align its public support for nurses with federal policies that strengthen the nursing workforce. On May 7, Congressional Nursing Caucus Leadership announced their bipartisan, bicameral resolution (H.Res.1264 and S.Res.709) honoring National Nurses Week. Click here for the press release. On May 12, the AACN joined with members of the Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) to meet with congressional staff about nursing priorities and celebrate National Nurses Week. This comes after the NCC sent a letter to all members of Congress outlining top nursing education, workforce, and research priorities. Last Day: Nominate a Nurse for the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force AACN’s Ad Hoc Nomination Consortium is seeking potential candidates to serve on the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF). This advisory body serves as an independent panel of experts in primary care and prevention that reviews the evidence of effectiveness and develops recommendations for clinical preventive services.
