  • Identify a Essentials Champion for Your School of Nursing

    September 26, 2022

    AACN is asking each member school dean to identify one lead faculty member to serve as an Essentials Champion. This individual will be your school’s central point of contact and communication liaison who will have access to a new network of leaders engaged in Essentials implementation. Champions will be encouraged to share updates and information with your administrative staff, faculty, practice partners, and students as well as identify issues, ask questions, and share ideas during virtual Q&A sessions held each quarter with AACN staff leaders. Fill out a short online form to designate your Essentials Champion. Please direct any questions to essentials@aacnnursing.org.

  • Call for Pilot Schools for a New initiative Funded by Johnson & Johnson

    September 8, 2022

    AACN is seeking 10 schools with entry-level baccalaureate nursing programs to implement and evaluate learning strategies and clinical experiences developed through this project in their curriculum. Selected schools will receive $10,000 in funding and technical assistance from AACN to implement the new learning and assessment strategies. The submission deadline is Friday, September 30, 2022.

  • AACN Launches New Leadership Network with DEI Focus

    July 26, 2021

    In keeping with our strategic priorities, AACN is pleased to announce the launch of its eighth Leadership Network: The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leadership Network (DEILN). This latest network grew out of AACN’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Group (DEIG), which was launched in 2018 to bring nursing school faculty and staff together to provide guidance to AACN and member schools on meeting diversity goals. With membership in DEIG now surpassing 120, AACN moved to evolve this advisory group into an official Leadership Network.

  • Print Copies on Sale Now: The Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education

    Used to define quality in nursing education, The Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education outline the necessary curriculum content and expected competencies of graduates from baccalaureate, master’s, and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs. With the endorsement of the new AACN Essentials by the membership in April 2021, academic nursing is moving toward a new model and framework for nursing education using a competency-based approach.

  • AACN Issues New White Paper to Support Diversity and Inclusion Efforts

    As a primary advocate for advancing diversity and inclusion within schools of nursing, AACN is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has endorsed a new white paper titled Promising Practices in Holistic Admissions Review: Implementation in Academic Nursing. This new resource provides a roadmap for schools looking to recruit more students from underrepresented groups into the nursing profession using evidence-based strategies and admissions redesign.
