Foundation Scholarships

Liaison LogoDeborah E. Trautman Future for Nurse Leader Scholarship

Funded by Liaison International, AACN’s partner in NursingCAS, this scholarship and leadership development program was created in honor of AACN’s President and CEO Dr. Deborah Trautman. This $3,500 scholarship is designed to recognize graduate nursing students who aspire to leadership positions in academic nursing. In addition to $2,000 to cover educational expenses which is sent directly to the student, scholarship recipients will participate in a one-on-one leadership development experience with Dr. Trautman at AACN’s headquarters in Washington, DC. Up to $1,500 of the scholarship award will be used to cover travel expenses for the three-day leadership development program.

Applications for the scholarship program are open now and will be accepted through October 30, 2020. Scholarships will be awarded on November 30, 2020, and those selected for funding will make individual arrangements to complete the leadership development experience during the summer of 2021.

Hurst Review/AACN Nursing Scholarship

Hurst Review and AACN are partnering to offer this scholarship program for students in pre-licensure entry-level baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral nursing programs. To apply, students will need to complete an online application form, which requires a brief 250-word essay on their goals and career aspirations in nursing. Scholarship winners will be announced within 30 days of each submission deadline (August 1, January 1, and May 1). This scholarship is non-recurring and will be awarded to individual students for one semester only.

COVID-19 Student Support Fund

The COVID-19 Nursing Student Support Fund provides one-time grants to nursing students enrolled in AACN member schools who need financial support to complete their nursing programs and/or meet life expenses. This fall, a total of 107 nursing students will receive $500 in support to help them overcome hardships linked to COVID-19. Since the program launched in April 2020, the Foundation has received almost 8,000 applications for funding and disbursed a total of 158 awards.The Foundation for Academic Nursing is seeking additional support from other corporate and individual donors for this fund to expand our ability to help more nursing students in need.
