In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, HealthLeaders is highlighting a series of articles to raise awareness of behavioral health issues affecting nurses. On May 17, columnist Jennifer Thew, RN, published an article about 4 Behavioral Health Resources for Nurses, which provides the latest data and offers strategies for addressing depression, anxiety, burnout, and nurse suicide. AACN Celebrates 50 Years - A Look Back at 1988
On January 1, Laurel Archer Copp, Dean of the School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, assumes the position of Editor of the Journal of Professional Nursing, the official journal of AACN. She will remain in that role for 9 years. Dr. Copp took the helm of the journal in its infancy and guided it to a position of strength and respect within the nursing world. AACN is indebted to her for providing the solid foundation upon which the journal has flourished.

Deadline Approaching for the AHA Innovation Challenge
Have you been considering new ways to apply technology to address social determinants of health? Do you have an idea for improving the health of your community? There are only two days left to submit applications for the 2019 American Hospital Association (AHA) Innovation Challenge. The AHA is looking for ideas that will have measurable impact over time. The top three proposals will receive $100,000, $25,000, and $15,000 to help bring their ideas to life. The deadline to submit applications is May 24. Award recipients will be announced at the AHA Leadership Summit in San Diego July 25-27. Learn more and apply by Friday, May 24.
