Faculty Development Pre-Conference

Implementing the Essentials: A Deep Dive into Strategies, Actions, Results
November 30, 2022

The Faculty Development Pre-Conference is an informative and engaging program that has been re-envisioned this year to focus on implementation of the AACN Essentials. Faculty at all levels will learn practical strategies for adapting their curricula, review AACN resources that support the Essentials implementation, explore the fundamentals of competency-based education, and receive guidance on curriculum mapping. Seasoned academic nurse leaders will share their expertise and key principles for innovative course design while addressing aspects of the faculty role related to creating an active learning environment, robust clinical teaching, and effective student evaluation. Attendees also will have the opportunity to participate in poster presentations, which were selected following a competitive peer-review process.

Choose Your Own Adventure: Navigating Your Leadership Journey with Purpose
November 30-December 1, 2022

Academic nursing faculty have always been immersed in settings rife with volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. However, the unprecedented challenges of the past two years have left leaders depleted and traversing environments that feel unsustainable. EDS participants will choose their own adventure in this current context by designing and co-creating a customized toolkit of strategies and resources that will enable them to amplify their capacity to navigate the leadership journey with purpose and intentionality.

Thriving after a Life-Quake: Promoting Student and Faculty Resiliency

COVID-19 is being described as a global life-quake event. In this highly interactive education session, learn how this life-quake has changed the practice environment, nursing education, and student experience. Learn actionable strategies and tools to use in your faculty role. The Faculty Leadership Network (FLN) is an AACN Leadership Network for faculty whose primary focus is teaching didactic and clinical courses, and provides opportunities to explore real world issues, pose pedagogical questions, and exchange ideas related to teaching and curriculum in professional nursing education.
