Essentializing Your Curriculum: Moving Forward with Competency-Based Education

February 3 & 5, 2026 | Two Half-Day Virtual Workshop

Description

Expanding on the popular series of in-person, regional workshops, AACN is offering a virtual program for faculty seeking strategies, resources, and solutions for adapting their nursing programs to meet the Essentials. Essentializing Your Curriculum: Moving Forward with Competency-Based Education (CBE) is designed to accelerate your program’s transition to CBE.

This virtual, two half-day workshop will be held on February 3 and 5 from 12:00-4:00 pm (ET) each day. Attendance is required for both days. The workshop will offer initial training in CBE provided by AACN’s Essentials Coaches and experts with the Competency-Based Education Network (C-BEN). The content will be similar to previous workshops, providing information on the move to CBE, in-depth training in curricular transition, and using AI to develop assessment rubrics based on progression indicators (observable behaviors of the sub-competencies). Participants will engage in pre-work prior to the workshop and collaborative learning through virtual breakout rooms to apply concepts and develop practical solutions.

Participants may earn up to 7 CEUs for Nursing Continuing Professional Development.

Program

The workshop will begin at 12:00 pm (ET) and end at 4:00 pm (ET) each day.
