AACN Celebrates National Public Health Week

Happy National Public Health Week (NPHW)! For 25 years, NPHW honors and celebrates our public health nurses and workforce by highlighting issues critical to improving the country’s access to health care and the well-being of our patients and communities, as well as addressing public health challenges. As we continue to combat COVID-19, we have seen the deep and impactful need for investment in public health. While this celebration officially runs from April 6-12, AACN is proud to continue our support of public health nurses throughout the year. Letter Sent to Governors to Address Health Care and Mental Health Access

On April 2, AACN, along with more than 60 national organizations, signed onto a letter from the American Council on Education (ACE) urging governors across the country to temporarily suspend or modify barriers to ensure healthcare access, especially in telehealth services, during this healthcare challenge.  As we continue to combat this pandemic and strengthen the collective response, it is essential that sufficient healthcare and mental health services are available to meet the needs of individuals in each state. This ACE letter also highlights how colleges and universities’ health and counseling centers are implementing telehealth to provide these services to patients, many who are now living off-campus.
