Take Action: Urge your Senators to Cosponsor and Pass the Strengthening America's Health Care Readiness Act
On June 24, Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) introduced the Strengthening America's Health Care Readiness Act (S. 4055). This legislation would provide $1 billion in funding to the Nurse Corps Scholarship and Loan Repayment Programs and $5 billion in funding to the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), as well as create a National Health Service Corps Emergency Service demonstration project. The Nurse Corps Scholarship and Loan Repayment Programs and NHSC help ensure nursing students, and nurses, enter into practice where health care is needed the most, including in health professional shortage areas and medically underserved regions. As Congress begins work on the next COVID-19 relief package, it is imperative that nursing students and the nursing workforce receive additional support so they can combat current and future healthcare challenges.

AACN Continues Partnership with NIH’s All of Us Research Program
AACN is proud to announce the sixth consecutive grant cycle of the All of Us Research Program. The National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) All of Us Research Program aims to transform healthcare through the advancement of precision medicine. Since 2018, AACN’s partnership with the All of Us Research Program helped facilitate the engagement of the academic nursing community in this program. So far, $330,000 in grant funding has been awarded to 32 AACN member schools to raise awareness on the program’s goals of precision medicine and its focus on including historically underrepresented communities in biomedical research. AACN is particularly honored to be part of the All of Us Research Program given its current efforts to provide new insights and understandings into COVID-19 and its disproportionate effect on minority communities.
