Trump Administration to Deliver 150 Million Rapid COVID-19 Tests This Year

As part of an initiative led by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Department of Defense (DOD), the Trump Administration awarded a $760 million contract to Abbott Laboratories, a multination medical devices and healthcare company, for the delivery of 150 million rapid point of care diagnostic tests. This investment aims to help expand strategic, evidence-based testing in the United States in the hope of lowering the spread of COVID-19. The BinaxNOW COVID-19 Ag Card test has received emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration, requires no instrumentation, and will deliver COVID-19 test results in 15 minutes or less.
