Student Loan Pause Extended Through May 1

On December 22, 2021, the Biden-Harris Administration extended the pause on student loan repayments for an additional 90 days. With the new deadline of May 1, 2022, students will have more time to plan for payments to resume, especially given the impact of the ongoing public health emergency and Omicron variant. As the U.S. Department of Education noted, “the pause on student loan payments will help 41 million borrowers save $5 billion per month.” This pause has been ongoing since March 2020.
