Apply Today: Funding Opportunities for Nursing Schools, Faculty, and Preceptors
The Health Resources and Services Administration has two active funding opportunities that directly impact AACN members, faculty, students, and preceptors, including:
- The Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention Registered Nurse Training Program: This program helps place nursing students in acute care settings and to address social determinants of health, particularly in underserved areas. Eligible entities include accredited schools of nursing, among others. The deadline to apply is August 19, 2022. To learn more and apply, click here.
- The Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention Clinical Faculty and Preceptor Academies Program: This program helps develop academic-clinical-community partnerships and implement and develop curriculum for training clinical nursing faculty and preceptors. Senate Passes the Inflation Reduction Act
On August 7, the Senate passed the Inflation Reduction Act (H.R. 5376) by a vote of 51-50. This legislation includes various healthcare provisions, helps lower the cost of prescription drugs, and provides a three-year extension to a program that helps reduce healthcare premiums. It also touches upon many other issues such as climate, domestic energy production, and manufacturing. H.R. 5376 now heads to the House this week for a vote.
Research!America Microgrant Opportunities
Research!America’s 2022-2023 Civic Engagement Microgrant Program will award up to $4,000 to STEM graduate and postdoctoral students to create projects designed to facilitate communication and partnership between community leaders and scientists around issues of common concern. In its fifth year, the microgrant program equips new scientists, who are early in their careers, access to develop skills in communication and programming planning, as well as knowledge around policy and government to help facilitate lasting partnerships between scientists and the community.
