AACN’s Nursing Voices, Nursing Votes Garners Over 1,000 Pledges

Nursing Voices, Nursing Votes, AACN’s nonpartisan voting initiative to encourage nurses to amplify their voices, concluded after the 2022 midterm elections this past Tuesday. In its third biennial year, Nursing Voices, Nursing Votes saw strong engagement from members, and since its inception in 2018, has garnered over 1,000 pledges. Thank you to all the nursing deans, faculty, and students who engaged in this election process, allowed their voices to be heard, and voted. We look forward to 2024 as we continue to amplify the nursing voice!

HHS Invests $13 Million in the Nursing Workforce

On October 21, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) invested $13 million to support the nursing workforce and access to nursing education. This funding addresses multiple pipeline areas, particularly the limited availability of nursing preceptors. Schools of nursing can only accept students if they have enough clinical placement sites and preceptors to educate the next generation of nurses. U.S. Surgeon General Releases Framework for Addressing Workplace Mental Health

On November 1, the U.S. Surgeon General released a framework addressing workplace mental health and well-being. The report highlights the need for workers to be able to better manage daily stress by receiving support from their employer and showcases five components for developing a healthy work environment. The report notes that when staff mental health suffers, workplace productivity, creativity, and retention declines. To read more, click here.
