116th Congress Explores Healthcare Priorities during The Atlantic Event
On February 27, The Atlantic magazine hosted a panel discussion in Washington, DC with members of Congress and panelists on healthcare affordability, access to care, and the future of the American healthcare system. Key speakers included Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee Frank Pallone Jr. (D-NJ) and Representative Lauren Underwood (D-IL), along with Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee Lamar Alexander (R-TN). The panelists explored their individual ideas on how to make health care more accessible and how to lower prescription drug costs. Chairman Alexander also highlighted the passage of the comprehensive opioid legislation, H.R. 6, in the 115th Congress as a major healthcare achievement.

Hill Day Hub: Your Online Advocacy Resource
AACN’s 2019 Spring Advocacy Day will take place on Monday, March 25 during the Deans Annual Meeting and Student Policy Summit. To assist deans and students in their advocacy efforts, we provide a Hill Day “Hub” webpage, which will house AACN’s Congressional requests, a social media tool kit, and additional advocacy materials. Not joining us in DC? AACN Grassroots Network members will be able to advocate from home via an AACN Action Alert that will be sent on March 25. The message will reiterate the Congressional requests being communicated on Capitol Hill. Every voice counts!
